Outdoor baskets in recycled materials
Our new Ellis and Smilla baskets are handcrafted in ArtFibre for all-year outdoor use. The baskets are handcrafted in 70% recycled ArtFibre® and 30% new ArtFibre®. ArtFibre® is our own specially-developed fiber made of hardwearing polyethylene. This material is also used for our Exterior furniture and can withstand rain, cold, heat, UV-rays and even snow.
New handcrafted teak lounge tables
Teak wood is known for its high strength and durability. Due to the wood's natural oil content, it is very resistant to wind and weather, insects, and rot. All our teak products are labeled with "Indonesian Legal Wood", which ensures that the wood has been sourced responsibly and can be traced back to the original sender at any time.
Bringing new life to all-time classics
We are excited to present our two popular models, the Isabell dining chair and Madeleine dining chair, in a new chevron pattern made in soft colors.
The chairs are part of our Affäire collection that presents a selection of charming bistro furniture in our own classical designs dating back to the 1950s.
Lampshades for outdoor use
Our popular Tangelo lampshade is now available in an outdoor version handcrafted in ArtFibre. By combining more sizes of the Tangelo lampshade, you can create beautiful visual effects and extend the coziness of your indoor space to your outdoor area.
The Tangelo lampshades have an inner steel frame giving it a good weight and ensuring that even the smaller sizes hang nicely.
Passion for rattan
Sika-Design is a Danish family company from 1942. With a passion for rattan, we manufacture timeless furniture in both our own designs and in designs by some of the world’s greatest architects.
Rattan is often confused with bamboo, but unlike hollow bamboo, rattan is a solid material. This makes rattan highly bendable and can therefore be transformed into the most amazing shapes.
The fact that rattan is a solid material makes rattan furniture very durable and able to last for generations.
Iconic designs
Arne Jacobsen, Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel, Robert W., Franco Albini & Franca Helg, Viggo Boesen and Tove Kindt-Larsen were all pioneers of their time. They broke new ground when they made experimental shapes of the sturdy material rattan and wicker, creating sculptural and timeless furniture design icons.
With great respect and admiration for the original designs and in close collaboration with the descendants, we are at Sika-Design proud to have acquired the rights for these iconic designs.
Responsibilities
Since 1942, the natural material rattan has been the cornerstone of Sika-Design. Our mission is to produce furniture from materials that have the least possible impact on the environment, and that our customers can, and want to keep, for many years. Sustainability is therefore woven into our DNA, and green transitioning has become a fixed focal point at Sika-Design.
Consideration for the environment affects which items are put into production, our choice of materials, how they are processed, and how the furniture is packaged and transported.
