The stool is part of Sika-Design's ICONS collection which represents relaunched design furniture from some of Europe's largest and most talented and important designers of their time. With great respect and admiration for the original designs and in close collaboration with the descendants of the well-known furniture designers we are happy to bring these icons back.
Teddy is an iconic wicker furniture designed by Viggo Boesen in 1936. Viggo Boesen was known as one of the best designers in the heyday of Danish design. Boesen has designed a myriad of modernist wicker furniture, where he has made use of rattan’s unique strength and durability. Teddy is Viggo Boesen's interpretation of the popular ear flap chair from the middle of the 19th century shaped with a large organic arm movement.
The stool is suitable for the ordinary home and cottage, and the detailed windings makes it a cozy element in the room. The stool is handmade in sustainable Indonesian rattan by skilled wicker makers. Sika-Design uses carefully selected rattan for furniture production to ensure the highest quality. Rattan is often compared to bamboo, but unlike bamboo which is hollow, rattan is a solid material. Rattan is a remarkably strong and indestructible material and you therefore get a unique piece of furniture that can last for generations.
